Rivers are known to be sources of water for people residing in nearby communities where they are situated and they also serve as sources of livelihood. This particular river is no exception. But, what is intriguing is the fact that the source of this river can be traced to a tree in Uku-ani, a community located in Delta State of Nigeria, West Africa. Surprisingly, the ancient founder or discoverer of this river had a spectacular encounter that brought smiles to his face and his wife’s face, causing great joy to flow like a river in their hearts. This site, which is the beginning, the source of the popular River Ethiope, should be made a great tourist attraction. Ministry of Culture and Tourism, take note and act fast.
